How To Play The Piano With Flair

Everyone, including the famous genius Mozart, needed to be taught how to play the piano. What he did with what he was shown, and how he played it out in his performances and compositions was certainly exceptional and extremely rare; to say the least.

So, where are you in this? What do you do with what you're shown, or what you already know? How do you play the piano with flair? A great deal depends on where, when, and how?

  • Where you place your attention.
  • When you shift your focus. And.....
  • How you choose to execute things.

These ideas are for all levels of experience. Sometimes I have a rough time with a new piece, and even after 25 years of playing, I have to remind myself of some basic points regarding how to play the piano.

  • Am I placing my attention more in my hands?
  • When do I need to shift my focus more to the listening and less to the reading/looking at the keyboard as I play?
  • How exactly is this to be done? (By ear more? By touch mostly? By chord progression pattern?)

If some of this doesn't make sense to you, don't be alarmed. It will become clear as you study the piano more. Remember, the information on this site is meant to help you Learn Piano and Shine.
