Keyboard Lessons What's The Difference?
Keyboard lessons are effectively piano lessons on a keyboard. In some cases advanced lessons on a keyboard deal with making the transition from piano to keyboard. That may involve a touch adjustment, learning to use the built in sounds, rhythm features, and in some cases programing and sound design tools. Some of my past piano students have used a keyboard instead of an acoustic piano. One of them even used to bring his keyboard to the piano lessons. The reason? He did not have to deal with the touch difference between the studio piano at lesson time and his keyboard at practice time. Whenever I get asked to take my digital piano to play for a function, it feels quite different from playing the piano. The tune and sound are great. Even though the keys are touch sensitive and weighted, it just doesn't feel real.
If you're searching and you come across free lessons, be careful. Many are inadequate, and can leave you feeling discouraged; in the 'not so long run'. Even a trained person needs to add a lot of information to practice effectively from the 'free' material. What I mean by that is that there often can be huge gaps in information. Have you ever gotten directions from someone? Some people will overload you with filler like too much useless detail and long sentences with too many words that confuse. Others will just point and say "That way." Which means you have to find it pretty well yourself. Well, 'free' is very often like that. Not exactly what you need, and how you need it. Some issues are: - No fingering assistance
- Numbered count spaced inappropriately
- Instructions for use are too minimal
Overall,......... could be frustrating. In case you haven't seen it yet, the Free Piano Lessons page is a quick read, and can save you some time and trouble. Feeling more real and ready? Are you considering one on one lessons? Private Lessons with John has good, quick details for you.
