How Music Chords Can Affect The Melody
Music chords are notes forming a harmony, and are played on instruments which can play several notes at a time. Piano chords are also music chords. In case you need an ear primer and you haven't seen it yet, visit the Piano Chords page.
Making The Same Melody Sound Different Different harmony can make a melody sound different. Here we will use major and minor chords including major 7'ths and minor 7'ths, as well as dominant 7'ths, and a flat 9'th. Whenever a chord goes beyond an octave we call it extended; whether it is altered or not. If you do not know what all that means it doesn't matter right now. This is just a demonstration of the effect that choices in harmony can have on the same melody. It's also an easy listen and pleasant. Level Of Understanding Whatever your level of understanding, the listening is the point. - If you're a beginner, just accept whatever you can.
- If you're an intermediate, pick up anything you can that's new for you.
- If all this is easy for you, practice speed recognition.
