I just have a few things to say about online piano lessons.

The real power of the internet is its easy access to information via digital means. It can't replace people and personal attention; not by DVD or even live video. These things may help and can definitely supplement the live learning experience. They are to be selected and used carefully, based on individual needs.

Consider the convenience of recorded music. It is great! However, it will never, ever replace a live performance; especially if you wish to learn how to do something for yourself. Still, it's a great supplement and can speed your learning journey. I can't stress this enough. Very often we convenience ourselves away from what we need. Very much like always getting a ride when you really need to walk and get some exercise.

So, even having a good teacher via live web cam is really only the second best way to study piano. I understand that some people can't get a teacher in their town or local area. Also, sometimes someone really wants to study with a certain teacher and can only access that teacher and his/her skills through the internet. It could be time availability due to travel, or the desired teacher just is very far away.

In case you have not yet been to the Piano Lessons page, it's a good idea to read, or re-read it. There is a lot going on in a piano lesson; even at the elementary stage.

Consider all these points, try different things, and do what works best for you.
