Definition There are various definitions given to piano theory. We will be using it in correlation to music theory. Learning how to read music is extremely useful. Looking at a piano keyboard and being able to play the notes breathes life into the theory of music. Art and Math There is an art to theory. There will definitely be some math as well. Be certain to take small steps and understand the mathematical relationships in music. This will make learning more complex things in the future much easier. Freeing Creativity A lot of people don't like studying theory. I'd like to share something from my experience that you may want to keep in mind. Advanced Theory Advanced harmony and finer points will mean greater details and multiple musical examples demonstrating the mathematical relationships in music. Some theory may be abstract, very 'theoretical'; even experimental. I believe it's always better to get a good grip on theory that works. Something that makes good music.
